U.S. President Trump recently expressed hope that China would buy more American soybeans.
He said on social media that American farmers can quickly sell soybeans to China.
China is the world's largest importer of soybeans, most of which are used for cooking oil and animal feed.
Currently, most of the soybeans China buys come from Brazil; the U.S. is China's second largest soybean supplier.
In 2024, China bought 22.14 million tons of soybeans from the U.S. and 74.65 million tons from Brazil.
Trump said that if China buys more American soybeans, it could help reduce trade issues between the two countries.
Recently, the U.S. and China have been negotiating, hoping to reach a new trade agreement.
Trump also said that he has a good relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping and is willing to meet with him if needed.
