Nepalese Youth Oppose Corruption and Social Media Ban

In September 2025, many young people in Nepal took to the streets to protest against corruption and the social media ban.
zhèng fǔ政府yīn wèi因为yī xiē一些shè jiāo méi tǐ社交媒体gōng sī公司méi yǒu没有àn zhào按照xīn新guī dìng规定zhù cè注册 ，jiù就jìn zhǐ禁止le了hěn很duō多cháng yòng常用de的shè jiāo社交píng tái平台 ，bǐ rú比如 Facebook 、 Instagramhé和 YouTube 。
The government banned many popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube because some social media companies did not register according to the new regulations.

Many young people and small business owners felt that such a ban made it very difficult for them to communicate and do business.
dà jiā大家yòng用 “ Nepo Kid ”zhè ge这个cí词 ，pī píng批评yǒu quán有权yǒu qián有钱de的jiā tíng家庭guò过dé得hěn很hǎo好 ，ér而pǔ tōng rén普通人shēng huó生活hěn很xīn kǔ辛苦 。
People used the term "Nepo Kid" to criticize wealthy and powerful families living well while ordinary people have a hard life.
hěn很duō多rén人xī wàng希望zhèng fǔ政府néng能gèng更gōng kāi公开 、gōng píng公平 ，yě也xī wàng希望yǒu有gèng更duō多zì yóu自由 。
Many hope the government can be more transparent and fair, and also hope for more freedom.

Although some people were injured or even died during the protests, young people still hope to change the country so that everyone's voice can be heard.
