Why Are There So Many Protests in Indonesia?
zuì jìn 最近 ， yìn ní 印尼 hěn 很 duō 多 chéng shì 城市 yǒu 有 dà guī mó 大规模 kàng yì 抗议 。
Recently, there have been large-scale protests in many cities in Indonesia.
rén men 人们 bù mǎn 不满 zhèng fǔ guān yuán 政府官员 ná dào 拿到 hěn 很 hǎo 好 de 的 zhù fáng 住房 bǔ tiē 补贴 ， yě 也 jué de 觉得 shuì shōu 税收 tài 太 gāo 高 ， shēng huó 生活 biàn dé 变得 hěn 很 nán 难 。
People are unhappy that government officials receive very good housing subsidies, and they also feel that taxes are too high, making life difficult.
hěn 很 duō 多 nián qīng rén 年轻人 hé 和 pǔ tōng 普通 shì mín 市民 zǒu 走 shàng 上 jiē tóu 街头 ， tā men 他们 xī wàng 希望 zhèng fǔ 政府 néng 能 tīng dào 听到 tā men 他们 de 的 shēng yīn 声音 。
Many young people and ordinary citizens have taken to the streets, hoping the government will hear their voices.

After the protests began, the police used strong force against the crowds, and there was an incident where a delivery worker was beaten to death by the police, which made more people angry.

People are not only dissatisfied with the government but also hope the police will change their approach.

The protesters have many demands, such as making government officials work more fairly, reducing corruption, providing more job opportunities, and having the police better protect everyone.
xiàn zài 现在 ， kàng yì 抗议 hái 还 zài 在 jì xù 继续 ， hěn 很 duō 多 rén 人 xī wàng 希望 zhèng fǔ 政府 néng 能 rèn zhēn 认真 tīng qǔ 听取 dà jiā 大家 de 的 yì jiàn 意见 ， zuò chū 做出 gǎi biàn 改变 。
The protests are still ongoing, and many people hope the government will seriously listen to everyone's opinions and make changes.
