Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar said that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations recently held a meeting in Malaysia.
Anwar stated that the relationship between ASEAN and China is getting better, but ASEAN will not only support China, nor will it give up cooperation with the United States.
He said that ASEAN hopes to maintain good relations with both China and the United States, so that the people of ASEAN countries can live better lives.
Anwar also said that ASEAN has always remained neutral and will not take sides between China and the United States.
The United States also expressed that they value their relationship with ASEAN and hope everyone can work together to make the Asian region safer and more prosperous.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang also said that China and ASEAN should cooperate more to make the economy more open together.
Although sometimes China and the United States have trade disputes, ASEAN countries hope to do business with both major powers and do not want to choose sides.
