China invests a lot in Africa, building railways, mines, and power plants.
Trade between China and Africa is increasing, and many Chinese media say these projects bring benefits, such as economic development and friendship.
However, many African countries have environmental problems because of these projects, such as polluted rivers, deforestation, disrupted animal migration routes, and some people losing their homes.
African and international media report on these issues, but Chinese media rarely mention them.
Chinese news often talks about good things and rarely discusses the negative environmental impacts.
Some Chinese journalists and environmental lawyers say Chinese media are unwilling to report these negative news because it would affect China's image.
When Chinese companies do business in Africa, if there are environmental problems, people in China find it hard to know about them.
Because of this, affected people in Africa have no chance to let more people hear their voices.
To protect the environment, we need more truthful and comprehensive reporting.
