měi guó美国yì yuán议员hū yù呼吁tíng zhǐ停止yǔ与zhōng guó中国yǒu guān有关zǔ zhī组织de的hé zuò合作
A U.S. congressman recently wrote to leaders in two American localities, urging them to stop cooperating with organizations related to China.
The congressman said these organizations, under the guise of cultural and educational exchanges, are actually influencing young Americans.
For example, this year some American high school students visited China with the help of the China Education International Exchange Association, and a school's choir participated in activities organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
The congressman believes these organizations are actually helping the Chinese government with propaganda, rather than just cultural exchange.
He suggested that these localities should no longer cooperate with these organizations and should carefully review all exchange programs with China.
The congressman also said that genuine people-to-people exchanges are important, but those supported by the Chinese government are not truly grassroots exchanges.
