A 42-year-old Chinese man named Wen Shenghua was found in the US helping North Korea smuggle weapons and sensitive technology.
He lived in California, originally coming to the US as a student, but he stayed after his visa expired.
Later, following instructions from North Korean officials, he bought guns, ammunition, and some high-tech equipment, then shipped these items to North Korea in containers.
Wen Shenghua hid weapons in containers using false information; once he even packed guns in a box labeled 'household refrigerator' and shipped it to Hong Kong before forwarding it to North Korea.
He also bought a firearms company in the US, purchased many guns, shipped them to California, and then sent them abroad.
Besides weapons, he tried to buy military-use equipment such as detectors, wideband receivers, and thermal imaging systems.
The US government discovered this and arrested Wen Shenghua.
He has admitted his wrongdoing and may face a long prison sentence.
