Recently, Beijing established an International Mediation Institute in Hong Kong.
The purpose of this organization is to make Hong Kong an important place for resolving international disputes.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the International Mediation Institute can help solve problems between countries through peaceful methods.
Currently, 32 countries have signed agreements with China to support this new organization.
The headquarters of this International Mediation Institute will be located in an old police station on Hong Kong Island, and it is expected to start operations later this year or early next year.
Many participating countries come from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Oceania, and Europe.
The Hong Kong government hopes that through this organization, Hong Kong will have greater influence internationally.
Recently, the United States imposed sanctions on some Chinese and Hong Kong officials because they believe Hong Kong's freedom and human rights have been affected.
The United States also said that it no longer treats Hong Kong as a place different from mainland China.
