Two members of the U.S. Congress have proposed designating July 6, 2025, as 'Compassion Day' to celebrate the 90th birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama.
They said the Dalai Lama has spent his life promoting peace, non-violence, and human rights, and has also protected Tibetan culture.
The lawmakers stated that the U.S. supports the Tibetan people's right to choose and opposes the Chinese government's interference in Tibet's religious activities.
They also said that the Dalai Lama's compassion and courage have inspired many people around the world.
The lawmakers hope that by establishing 'Compassion Day,' more people will learn about the Dalai Lama's contributions and that one day the Tibetan people can peacefully return to their homeland.
Many U.S. Congress members support this proposal.
They believe the Dalai Lama's teachings are very important for today's world, such as religious tolerance and resolving issues peacefully.
This proposal also brings hope to the Tibetan people.
