Wukong was a stray cat who was adopted by Zhao Shuo, a cyclist traveler, and traveled with his owner in Xinjiang, becoming an internet celebrity cat with many fans.
jīn nián今年sì yuè四月，wù kōng悟空zài在xīn jiāng新疆mǐ lán zhèn米兰镇fù jìn附近bèi被fā xiàn发现sǐ wáng死亡。
In April this year, Wukong was found dead near Milan Town in Xinjiang.
At first, there were news reports saying Wukong was hit and killed by a car, but Zhao Shuo denied this in a video. He said he did not know the exact cause of Wukong's death and found that the cat's body had no fractures or external injuries. The veterinarian thought it might be poisoning.
Later, Zhao Shuo posted another video saying Wukong might have died from poisoning after eating a mouse and apologized for not taking good care of the cat.
