The Hong Kong Secretary for Education stated that schools are the frontline in preventing 'soft confrontation' because students may develop extreme or radical ideas due to online rumors.
She said schools need to cultivate students' patriotism and also strengthen teacher training to prevent harmful forces from entering schools.
She gave an example that some storybooks are considered to promote anti-government ideas, which negatively affect students.
Recently, some have said that students going to the mainland for exchanges are 'forced,' and such claims may cause students to have misunderstandings.
The Education Bureau has arranged training for teachers to help them identify issues related to 'soft confrontation.'
Schools also need to incorporate national education into daily teaching to enhance students' cultural confidence and national identity.
The Secretary for Education emphasized that young people are our future, and schools must protect them from the influence of 'soft confrontation.'
