Trump said on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz has reopened and merchant ships can pass through.
He said Iran agreed not to close this important strait again, and the Iranian side also confirmed the news.
Trump also said that talks between the United States and Iran have made progress, many issues have already been discussed, and the two sides may continue negotiating.
However, the United States will not immediately end its blockade of Iranian ports and oil terminals.
Trump said the blockade will end only after a full U.S.-Iran agreement is reached.
For now, the U.S. military is still inspecting and intercepting some cargo heading to Iran at sea, especially weapons, explosives, nuclear materials, metals, and some electronic products.
The United States hopes to use this pressure to make Iran give up developing nuclear weapons and make more concessions in the negotiations.
