The US government is considering visa restrictions on more than 40 countries.
These countries are divided into three groups.
Citizens of the first group of countries cannot enter the US, such as Iran, Syria, North Korea, and Yemen.
Citizens of the second group of countries can only apply for certain visas; for example, business visas are allowed, but tourist and student visas will have more restrictions.
If the third group of countries does not improve security measures within 60 days, their citizens may also face visa restrictions.
The US government says this is to protect national security.
This plan has not been finalized yet, and the list of countries may change.
In the past, the US has also had similar visa bans on some countries.
