2026nián年de的lì qiū立秋:wèi shén me为什么tiān qì天气hái shì还是zhè me这么rè热?
August 7 is China’s “Start of Autumn” solar term.
Start of Autumn marks the beginning of autumn, but it does not mean the weather will become cooler right away.
In many parts of China, the hot summer weather continues for some time after Start of Autumn.
This year’s Start of Autumn has some special features. Many people even say it is a “once-in-60-years” Start of Autumn.
This year, Start of Autumn comes relatively late, and the period after it is still within the hot “Sanfu Days.”
Therefore, even though autumn has begun on the calendar, the high temperatures will not end immediately.
Chinese people often call a period of hot weather after Start of Autumn the “Autumn Tiger.”
This name is interesting because autumn has already arrived, but the hot weather is still as fierce as a tiger.
So, do not rush to put away your fan and air conditioner after Start of Autumn. Preventing heatstroke is still important.
In terms of food, China also has a tradition called “putting on autumn weight.”
In the past, people believed that they ate less in summer, so they should eat more meat in autumn to replenish nutrition.
However, the weather is still hot and humid now. If you suddenly eat too much greasy food, you may feel unwell.
Therefore, you can first keep a relatively light diet and eat more vegetables and fruit.
Older people and children should also pay attention to temperature changes.
It may still be very hot during the day, but mornings and evenings will gradually become cooler. You can prepare a light jacket when going out.
So, although this year has already reached “Start of Autumn,” the truly cool autumn weather may still take some time to arrive.
Solar terms tell us that the seasons are changing, but the weather does not suddenly change within one day just because the calendar says so.
