měi美yǐ以dǎ jī打击yī lǎng伊朗,huì会zěn yàng怎样yǐng xiǎng影响zhōng guó中国?
After the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, China quickly expressed opposition but did not say it would provide military assistance to Iran.
Many people are concerned: will this affect life in China?
First is oil.
China buys a lot of Middle Eastern oil, and many oil tankers have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
If the strait becomes unsafe or is blocked, oil prices may rise, making oil more expensive for China and possibly causing prices of goods to increase as well.
Next is investment.
Chinese companies have carried out energy, transportation, and communication projects in Iran. If war or sanctions intensify, these projects may stop, causing losses to businesses.
There is also the issue of payments.
Because Iran has difficulties dealing with some Western financial systems, sometimes oil is settled in RMB.
If the US strengthens sanctions, related trade may become more difficult and also affect the international use of the RMB.
Politically, China and Iran cooperate in some international organizations, but China also has to consider its own economic interests and its relationship with the US, so its stance will be cautious.
