04 is a young Shan man from Myanmar. He came to Chiang Mai, Thailand to work, hoping to earn money to support his family.
He first worked as a waiter in a barbecue restaurant. Later, he thought working in a bar was easier and paid better, so he started working as a 'host' who accompanies customers for drinks.
His job is to chat and drink with customers, and sometimes play games with them.
He gets a share of the money from every drink sold.
Although the working hours are late, he feels it is more flexible than working in a restaurant and he can have more days off.
04 sends the money he earns back home to help his mother and family.
Once, he got sick, lost his job, and needed to see a doctor.
Kind people and some organizations helped pay his medical bills.
04 said he does not want to do this job anymore because he drinks too much and often meets unfriendly customers.
He hopes to find a better job in the future to take care of his family.
