Politicians in many countries often speak in nationalist terms, criticize other countries, and do not like international cooperation.
But many surveys have found that many ordinary people around the world actually prefer cooperation, unity, and peace.
At the end of 2025, a survey conducted in 34 countries showed that 55% of people believed countries should work together to solve global problems, even if that affects some national interests.
If international cooperation can really solve problems, support for it rises to 75%.
People think cooperation is important for food and water, security, jobs, health, trade, and the climate.
Another survey in 2026 also found that more people support global solidarity.
Many people believe that for problems like environmental pollution, international organizations should have the power to promote solutions.
Many also agree to use taxes to help solve global problems, and some feel more like “world citizens.”
The survey also showed that many people trust the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
This shows that ordinary people are often more willing than their governments to face the world’s problems together.
