Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks on Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The two countries agreed to continue extending the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia.
Xi said that China-Russia relations have remained stable and developed over the years, and that cooperation between the two countries has increased in trade, energy, science and technology, transportation, education, culture, and tourism, while exchanges between their peoples have also become closer.
Xi said both sides should continue to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation, promote better development of bilateral relations, and also strengthen coordination on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS.
Putin said that Russia-China relations are now at a very high level, and that cooperation between the two sides brings stability to both countries and to the world.
He said Russia is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with China.
After the talks, the two countries issued a joint statement and also signed a number of cooperation documents in areas such as the economy, education, and science and technology.
