The Reagan Institute in the United States released a new survey.
The survey was conducted from late May to early June 2026, with 1,555 people taking part.
The results show that about 80% of Americans are worried about problems caused by China.
82% are concerned about China’s role in the flow of fentanyl into the United States, 81% worry about China monitoring Americans, 80% worry about China buying land in the United States, and 79% worry about China stealing technology and engaging in unfair trade.
66% believe that Taiwan’s security is important to the security and economic development of the United States.
59% support the U.S. asking China to release political prisoners, even if that makes relations between the two countries worse.
As for the U.S. government’s policy toward China, 44% think it is about right, while 33% think it is not tough enough.
The survey also found that 81% believe the United States should speak out for human rights and democracy, and 82% believe a strong military helps maintain peace.
