Recent reports indicate that between 2022 and 2023, nearly 70% of China's overseas power investments were in renewable energy sources like solar and wind, surpassing investments in coal and other fossil fuels.
This is the first time that green energy investments have exceeded coal in China's overseas investments.
Chinese leaders have stated that China will stop investing in new overseas coal power plants and will support green energy more.
Although China's green energy investments have increased, the total investment scale is smaller than before, and previously planned coal power plants are still under construction and will continue to emit carbon dioxide.
China has also launched a green investment plan to help developing countries use more clean energy.
