Leaders of China, Russia, India, Iran, and other countries attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan.
China hopes to use this organization to show that countries around the world do not necessarily have to cooperate only in the way the United States and Western countries do.
At the meeting, the countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, transportation, cybersecurity, and environmental protection, and they also planned to establish a new security center.
However, there are many differences within the organization.
Relations between India and Pakistan are tense, China and India also have border issues, and countries have different views on war, security, and economic policy.
Important decisions require the agreement of all members, so many plans end up being only joint statements and are difficult to turn into real action.
China's economic influence in Central Asia is growing, but Russia still has linguistic, cultural, and security influence in the region.
Central Asian countries also hope to cooperate at the same time with multiple parties, including China, Russia, and Europe.
Therefore, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an important platform for exchange, but it still cannot replace the international cooperation system built by the United States and its allies.
