Why Have Street-Side “Lanzhou Lamian” Restaurants Changed Their Name?
zuì jìn 最近 ， zhōng guó 中国 hěn 很 duō 多 dì fāng 地方 de 的 “ lán zhōu 兰州 lā miàn 拉面 ” diàn 店 huàn 换 le 了 xīn 新 zhāo pái 招牌 ， gǎi míng 改名 jiào 叫 “ qīng hǎi 青海 lā miàn 拉面 ” le 了 。
Recently, many “Lanzhou Lamian” restaurants in China have put up new signs and changed their name to “Qinghai Lamian.”

In the 1980s, some people from Qinghai left their hometowns to open noodle shops elsewhere in order to improve their poor living conditions.

Now, many noodle-shop owners are willing to replace their signs with “Qinghai Lamian,” because they have become increasingly confident in the noodles they have worked so hard to make.
jiè yòng 借用 le 了 sān shí 三十 duō nián 多年 de 的 míng zì 名字 ， xiàn zài 现在 zhōng yú 终于 huán gěi 还给 le 了 lán zhōu 兰州 。
After using the name for more than 30 years, they have finally given it back to Lanzhou.
