The Wrong Questions About the Iran War
hěn 很 duō 多 rén 人 tán dào 谈到 duì 对 yī lǎng 伊朗 de 的 zhàn zhēng 战争 shí 时 ， zǒng 总 zài 在 wèn 问 ： měi guó 美国 huì bú huì 会不会 zài 在 zhōng dōng 中东 diū miàn zi 丢面子 ？
Many people, when talking about a war against Iran, always ask: Will the US lose face in the Middle East?
dàn 但 gèng 更 zhòng yào 重要 de 的 wèn tí 问题 shì 是 ： yǐ sè liè 以色列 néng 能 cóng 从 zhè 这 chǎng 场 zhàn zhēng 战争 dé dào 得到 shén me 什么 。
But a more important question is: What can Israel gain from this war?
yǐ sè liè 以色列 zǒng lǐ 总理 nèi tǎ ní yà hú 内塔尼亚胡 shuō 说 ， tā 他 wèi 为 zhè 这 chǎng 场 zhàn zhēng 战争 zhǔn bèi 准备 le 了 hěn 很 duō nián 多年 。
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said he has been preparing for this war for many years.
yī lǎng 伊朗 yì zhí 一直 zhī chí 支持 bā lè sī tǎn 巴勒斯坦 rén 人 de 的 quán lì 权利 ， yě 也 pī píng 批评 jiā shā 加沙 de 的 bēi jù 悲剧 ， bìng 并 zhī chí 支持 lí bā nèn 黎巴嫩 de 的 zhēn zhǔ dǎng 真主党 hé 和 bā lè sī tǎn 巴勒斯坦 de 的 hā mǎ sī 哈马斯 。
Iran has always supported the rights of the Palestinians, criticized the tragedy in Gaza, and supported Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.
xiāng fǎn 相反 ， yī xiē 一些 zhōng dōng 中东 guó jiā 国家 zuǐ 嘴 shàng 上 fǎn duì 反对 zhàn lǐng 占领 ， xíng dòng 行动 shàng 上 què 却 hé 和 yǐ sè liè 以色列 hé zuò 合作 。
On the contrary, some Middle Eastern countries verbally oppose occupation but cooperate with Israel in practice.
yǐ sè liè 以色列 cháng 常 shuō 说 yī lǎng 伊朗 kuài 快 yǒu 有 hé wǔ qì 核武器 ， dàn 但 hěn 很 duō 多 qíng bào 情报 rén yuán 人员 rèn wéi 认为 yī lǎng 伊朗 bìng 并 méi yǒu 没有 zhè yàng 这样 zuò 做 。
Israel often says Iran is close to having nuclear weapons, but many intelligence officials believe Iran has not done so.
yǐ sè liè 以色列 yě 也 shuō 说 guān xīn 关心 yī lǎng 伊朗 rén 人 de 的 rén quán 人权 ， kě 可 tā 它 gèng 更 xiǎng 想 ràng 让 yī lǎng 伊朗 biàn 变 ruò 弱 、 fēn liè 分裂 ， shī qù 失去 bǎo hù 保护 bā lè sī tǎn 巴勒斯坦 rén 人 de 的 lì liàng 力量 。
Israel also says it cares about the human rights of Iranians, but it more wants Iran to become weak, divided, and lose the power to protect the Palestinians.
měi guó 美国 guān yuán 官员 yě 也 chéng rèn 承认 ， měi guó 美国 de 的 xíng dòng 行动 hé 和 yǐ sè liè 以色列 de 的 jì huà 计划 yǒu guān 有关 。
US officials also admit that US actions are related to Israel's plans.
yǒu rén 有人 dān xīn 担心 zhàn zhēng 战争 huì 会 ràng 让 yī lǎng 伊朗 shòu 受 zhòng chuāng 重创 ， shèn zhì 甚至 yǐn fā 引发 gèng 更 dà 大 de 的 zāi nàn 灾难 。
Some worry the war will severely damage Iran and even trigger a bigger disaster.
lǐ jiě 理解 zhè 这 chǎng 场 zhàn zhēng 战争 ， lí bù kāi 离不开 “ bā lè sī tǎn wèn tí 巴勒斯坦问题 ” 。
Understanding this war cannot be separated from the 'Palestinian issue'.
