Digital Media Unites Young People in Nepal
zuì jìn 最近 ， ní pō ěr 尼泊尔 de 的 nián qīng rén 年轻人 yòng 用 shè jiāo méi tǐ 社交媒体 tuán jié 团结 qǐ lái 起来 ， fǎn duì 反对 zhèng fǔ 政府 de 的 fǔ bài 腐败 。
Recently, young people in Nepal have united through social media to oppose government corruption.
yǐ qián 以前 ， ní pō ěr 尼泊尔 de 的 wǎng luò 网络 bù 不 fā dá 发达 ， rén men 人们 zhǐ néng 只能 tōng guò 通过 diàn shì 电视 hé 和 bào zhǐ 报纸 liǎo jiě 了解 xīn wén 新闻 ， hěn 很 duō 多 huài shì 坏事 bú huì 不会 bèi 被 dà jiā 大家 zhī dào 知道 。
In the past, Nepal's internet was underdeveloped, and people could only get news through TV and newspapers, so many bad things were not known to the public.
xiàn zài 现在 ， yuè lái yuè 越来越 duō 多 de 的 rén 人 yǒu 有 le 了 shǒu jī 手机 hé 和 wǎng luò 网络 ， dà jiā 大家 kě yǐ 可以 yòng 用 Facebook 、 YouTube hé 和 TikTok děng 等 píng tái 平台 fēn xiǎng 分享 xìn xī 信息 。
Now, more and more people have mobile phones and internet access, and they can share information on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
hěn 很 duō 多 nián qīng rén 年轻人 kāi shǐ 开始 zài 在 wǎng shàng 网上 zuò 做 shì pín 视频 ， jiē lù 揭露 zhèng fǔ 政府 de 的 bù zhèng dāng 不正当 xíng wéi 行为 。
Many young people have started making videos online to expose the government's improper actions.
yǒu 有 yī cì 一次 ， yī 一 wèi 位 bù zhǎng 部长 de 的 tān wū 贪污 lù yīn 录音 zài 在 wǎng shàng 网上 bèi 被 bào guāng 曝光 ， dà jiā 大家 hěn 很 shēng qì 生气 ， zhè wèi 这位 bù zhǎng 部长 hěn 很 kuài 快 jiù 就 cí zhí 辞职 le 了 。
Once, a recording of a minister's corruption was exposed online, which made people very angry, and the minister resigned quickly.
hòu lái 后来 ， zhèng fǔ 政府 jué dìng 决定 guān bì 关闭 hěn 很 duō 多 shè jiāo 社交 píng tái 平台 ， zhǐ yǒu 只有 TikTok hé 和 Viber hái 还 néng 能 yòng 用 。
Later, the government decided to shut down many social platforms, leaving only TikTok and Viber available.
hěn 很 duō 多 nián qīng rén 年轻人 shī qù 失去 le 了 gōng zuò 工作 ， yě 也 bù néng 不能 hé 和 jiā rén 家人 lián xì 联系 。
Many young people lost their jobs and could not contact their families.
dà jiā 大家 zài 在 TikTok shàng 上 kàn dào 看到 yī xiē 一些 guān yuán 官员 de 的 hái zi 孩子 guò 过 zhe 着 hěn 很 shē chǐ 奢侈 de 的 shēng huó 生活 ， dà jiā 大家 kāi shǐ 开始 wèn 问 ： “ zhè xiē 这些 qián 钱 shì 是 zěn me 怎么 lái 来 de 的 ？ ”
People saw on TikTok that some officials' children were living very luxurious lives, and they began to ask, 'Where did this money come from?'
nián qīng rén 年轻人 yuè lái yuè 越来越 bù mǎn 不满 ， jué dìng 决定 zǒu 走 shàng 上 jiē tóu 街头 kàng yì 抗议 。
Young people became increasingly dissatisfied and decided to take to the streets to protest.
kàng yì 抗议 huó dòng 活动 hěn 很 kuài 快 ràng 让 zhèng fǔ 政府 xià tái 下台 。
The protests quickly led to the government stepping down.
zhè ge 这个 gù shì 故事 gào sù 告诉 wǒ men 我们 ， shù zì 数字 méi tǐ 媒体 kě yǐ 可以 ràng 让 rén men 人们 gèng 更 liǎo jiě 了解 shè huì 社会 ， yě 也 néng 能 bāng zhù 帮助 dà jiā 大家 tuán jié 团结 qǐ lái 起来 gǎi biàn 改变 guó jiā 国家 。
