The United States has decided to start imposing tariffs on small parcels valued under $800.
Previously, these small parcels entering the U.S. were not taxed, with about 4 million such parcels arriving daily.
Many Chinese e-commerce platforms, such as Shein, Temu, and AliExpress, often sell products directly to American consumers.
Now, these products will also be subject to tariffs ranging from 10% to 50%, depending on the country of origin.
The U.S. government hopes to reduce trade imbalances with other countries through these tariffs.
The U.S. has also reached new trade agreements with some countries, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
For China and Mexico, the U.S. has temporarily extended the tariff period and is preparing to continue negotiations.
The U.S. Treasury Department said the government is working hard to reduce the budget deficit.
The White House stated that these new tariffs will help reduce the financial burden on the United States.
