On April 15, 2026, the weather in Beijing was warm and pleasant.
That day, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vietnamese leader To Lam met at the Great Hall of the People.
Together, they met youth representatives from China and Vietnam who were taking part in the “Red Study Tour.”
One year earlier on this same day, the two leaders had jointly launched this study program.
Over the past year, more than 1,000 Vietnamese young people have come to China.
They visited many historical sites, learned about the stories of the older generation of leaders from both countries, and personally experienced the rapid development of China’s modernization.
At the meeting, President Xi Jinping put forward three hopes for the young people.
First, he hoped that the youth would cherish the deep “comrades and brothers” friendship between China and Vietnam and carry forward the red revolutionary legacy.
Second, he encouraged the youth to be bold in innovation and contribute to cooperation between the two countries.
Finally, he hoped that everyone would care about the development of the world and work together for humanity’s future.
President To Lam also said that young people are the bridge connecting China and Vietnam.
He hoped that the youth of both countries would learn more and communicate more, so as to deepen their understanding of each other.
The atmosphere at the scene was very lively. More than 300 youth representatives shared their thoughts together, and they even spontaneously sang a song in chorus.
A Chinese youth representative said that this event made him feel that history is no longer just words in a textbook, but real emotions connecting the young people of the two countries.
The foundation of China-Vietnam friendship lies in the people, and its future lies in the youth.
This meeting not only brought the hearts of the young people of the two countries closer, but also injected new vitality into the future of China-Vietnam relations.
As long as young people join hands, China-Vietnam friendship will surely be passed down from generation to generation and become better and better.
