During the Christmas season, a U.S. committee focused on human rights in China called on the Chinese government to release all Christians detained because of their faith.
The committee posted online, specifically mentioning some detained Christians, such as Wang Honglan, Zhang Weizhu, and Wang Yi.
They were sentenced or deprived of their freedom for peacefully expressing their faith.
Recently, many Christians in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, were taken away by the police, and churches were also shut down.
The committee said that although the Chinese government claims to have religious freedom, in reality, many Christians face suppression during Christmas.
The committee hopes the Chinese government will respect everyone's freedom of belief and allow all those detained for their faith to return home and celebrate the holiday with their families.
