Recently, a frightening message has been circulating on several social media platforms in China.
Some people posted claims that “HIV and syphilis patients from other places have organized themselves to go to universities around the country and deliberately spread viruses as revenge against society.”
This rumor spread rapidly online, causing widespread public attention and concern.
However, after verification by public security authorities and relevant departments in multiple places, these online claims were found to be completely false.
According to official notices, similar rumors have recently appeared one after another in Nanning, Guangxi; Jinan, Shandong; Guiyang, Guizhou; and other places.
Investigations found that the content of these messages was almost exactly the same; only the names of the cities and universities had been changed.
Police said that this was false information deliberately fabricated by a small number of internet users, without any factual basis, in order to attract attention and gain online traffic.
At present, authorities in multiple places have officially issued notices to clarify the facts.
Regarding such maliciously fabricated campus-related rumors, relevant departments remind everyone: when seeing such sensational messages online, be sure to remain calm and rational.
Do not casually believe or forward unverified information. Follow official notices as the standard, and work together to maintain a healthy online environment and order on campus.
