U.S. Congressman Smith recently criticized China’s forced organ harvesting again.
He said it is a very cruel act, like a “Nazi-like atrocity.”
He said many young people have become victims, with an average age of only 28. The victims include Uyghurs, Falun Gong practitioners, members of house churches, and Tibetan Buddhists.
Smith said he had already chaired related hearings back in 1996, when witnesses said some prisoners were beaten and then immediately sent to have their organs taken.
Now, this practice may have become larger and more systematic.
Smith is pushing the United States to pass a bill to punish people involved in forced organ harvesting, and he also hopes to make more people pay attention to whether organ sources are legal.
He also called on the United States to quickly sanction the people involved and prevent them from entering the United States or doing business there.
