On April 10, 2026, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Pyongyang.
This meeting drew wide attention and reflected the deep traditional friendship between China and North Korea.
Wang Yi first conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to Kim Jong Un.
Wang Yi said that China and North Korea are both socialist countries with shared ideals and goals.
Under the current international situation, China and North Korea should strengthen exchanges and cooperation, firmly safeguard their respective sovereignty, security, and development interests, and contribute to world peace.
Kim Jong Un warmly welcomed Wang Yi’s visit.
He mentioned his visit to China last September and said that the consensus reached during that meeting is now being implemented.
Kim Jong Un stressed that continuously developing DPRK–China relations is a firm policy of the North Korean government.
North Korea fully supports China’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and hopes that the two countries will have more high-level exchanges in the future and jointly advance the socialist cause.
During the visit, Wang Yi also held in-depth talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and visited the Cemetery of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Martyrs to pay tribute and commemorate the heroes of history.
This visit not only deepened mutual trust between the two countries, but also pointed the way for future cooperation.
