The European Court recently decided that all EU countries must recognize same-sex marriages legally performed in other EU countries.

The court said that not recognizing same-sex marriages makes people's lives very difficult, for example in work, daily life, and family matters.

This decision came because two Polish people married in Germany returned to Poland and wanted Poland to recognize their marriage, but were refused, so they sought help from the European Court.
