On Saturday night, a shooting occurred while the White House Correspondents' Dinner was being held at a hotel in Washington.
President Trump and the First Lady were there at the time and were later quickly escorted away by security personnel; they were not injured.
Police said the suspect was a 31-year-old man from California.
He rushed toward a security checkpoint carrying several weapons, and was later subdued by law enforcement officers.
During the incident, one police officer was shot, but because he was wearing a bulletproof vest, his life was not in danger and he is expected to recover.
Trump later said that the banquet hall was still safe at the time, and he also expressed concern for the injured officer.
The event was originally meant to bring together the media and government officials for交流, but it was canceled because of the shooting.
The White House said the event will be rescheduled within 30 days.
