AI Cameras Manage Roads in Dhaka, Bangladesh
zài 在 mèng jiā lā guó 孟加拉国 shǒu dū 首都 dá kǎ 达卡 ， xīn 新 de 的 AI jiāo tōng 交通 shè xiàng tóu 摄像头 yǐ jīng 已经 kāi shǐ 开始 zài 在 zhǔ yào 主要 lù kǒu 路口 gōng zuò 工作 。
In Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, new AI traffic cameras have started working at major intersections.
sī jī 司机 rú guǒ 如果 chuǎng hóng dēng 闯红灯 、 yuè guò 越过 tíng chē xiàn 停车线 、 zǒu cuò 走错 fāng xiàng 方向 ， xì tǒng 系统 huì 会 mǎ shàng 马上 pāi xià 拍下 chē pái 车牌 ， bǎo cún 保存 shì pín 视频 ， bìng 并 cóng 从 zī liào kù 资料库 zhǎo dào 找到 chē zhǔ 车主 de 的 xìn xī 信息 。
If drivers run a red light, cross the stop line, or go in the wrong direction, the system will immediately capture the license plate, save the video, and find the owner’s information in the database.
jǐ gè 几个 xiǎo shí 小时 nèi 内 ， chē zhǔ 车主 jiù 就 huì 会 shōu dào 收到 tōng zhī 通知 。
Within a few hours, the owner will receive a notice.
xiàn zài 现在 ， zhè tào 这套 xì tǒng 系统 yǐ jīng 已经 zài 在 wǔ gè 五个 dà 大 lù kǒu 路口 shǐ yòng 使用 ， shí tiān 十天 nèi 内 kāi chū 开出 le 了 dà yuē 大约 yī qiān zhāng 一千张 fá dān 罚单 。
Now, this system is already being used at five major intersections, and about 1,000 fines were issued in ten days.
jǐng fāng 警方 hái 还 jì huà 计划 zài 在 liù gè yuè 六个月 nèi 内 ， bǎ 把 shè xiàng tóu 摄像头 zhuāng 装 dào 到 quán chéng 全城 gèng 更 duō 多 dì fāng 地方 。
The police also plan to install cameras in more places across the city within six months.

Many people think this is fairer and makes the roads safer, because everyone will follow traffic rules more carefully.
dàn 但 yě 也 yǒu rén 有人 dān xīn 担心 ， xì tǒng 系统 xiàn zài 现在 zhǔ yào 主要 pāi dào 拍到 sī jiā chē 私家车 hé 和 mó tuō chē 摩托车 ， lù shàng 路上 de 的 gōng jiāo chē 公交车 、 sān lún chē 三轮车 hé 和 méi yǒu 没有 pái zhào 牌照 de 的 chē 车 zěn me bàn 怎么办 ？
But some people worry that the system mainly catches private cars and motorcycles now. What about buses, three-wheelers, and vehicles without license plates on the road?
hái yǒu 还有 rén 人 dān xīn 担心 ， kāi chē 开车 de 的 rén 人 bú shì 不是 chē zhǔ 车主 shí 时 ， wèi shén me 为什么 yào 要 yóu 由 chē zhǔ 车主 kòu fēn 扣分 hé 和 shòu fá 受罚 。
Others worry that when the driver is not the owner, why should the owner lose points and be punished?
zhuān jiā 专家 shuō 说 ， AI shè xiàng tóu 摄像头 kě yǐ 可以 bāng zhù 帮助 guǎn lǐ 管理 jiāo tōng 交通 ， dàn 但 zhǐ 只 kào 靠 jì shù 技术 hái 还 bù gòu 不够 ， hái 还 xū yào 需要 qīng chǔ 清楚 de 的 guī zé 规则 、 shēn sù 申诉 bàn fǎ 办法 ， yě 也 yào 要 xiǎng 想 bàn fǎ 办法 chǔ lǐ 处理 méi yǒu 没有 pái zhào 牌照 de 的 chē liàng 车辆 。
Experts say AI cameras can help manage traffic, but technology alone is not enough. Clear rules, an appeals process, and ways to deal with unlicensed vehicles are also needed.
