The U.S. artificial intelligence company Anthropic recently launched two new models: Mythos5 and Fable5.
But only three days after they went online, the U.S. government asked the company to stop letting many people use these models.
The government said this could pose a national security risk.
Anthropic said it did this to comply with the government order.
Under the new rules, many foreign nationals cannot use these models, and foreign employees working in the United States cannot use them either.
Anthropic disagreed with the decision, saying that it had only found possible problems and that a full shutdown should not happen right away.
The company also said that if the whole industry used this standard, many new AI products might never be released.
Anthropic has always placed great importance on AI safety and also hopes for clear and fair rules to govern this technology.
This issue has also renewed the discussion about how, as AI develops rapidly, we should find a balance between safety and innovation.
