I am over fifty years old.
Recently, I spent a week living with a Pakistani under-14 football team.
They went to Europe to take part in the 2026 Iberia Cup.
Along the way, I noticed that the children often sat together but only looked at their own phones, and rarely talked face to face.
There was beautiful scenery outside the window, but they did not look up.
If a short video is not interesting enough within two seconds, they swipe past it immediately, making it difficult for them to concentrate for a long time.
After two in the morning, some of the children were still hiding under their blankets and playing on their phones. Lack of sleep also affected their health and performance in the matches.
They also liked buying expensive food with attractive packaging, even though it was unhealthy.
Although these children attended very expensive schools, they were not very willing to listen to adults, teachers, or coaches.
They wanted freedom, but did not like rules or responsibility.
Parents and teachers need to help children spend less time looking at screens, sleep more, exercise more, eat healthily, and learn to respect others.
The real world cannot be swiped away like a phone screen whenever we encounter something we dislike.
