How Culture Influences Us
shàng zhōu 上周 ， wǒ men 我们 jiē 接 wǔ suì 五岁 de 的 ér zi 儿子 fàng xué 放学 huí jiā 回家 。
Last week, we picked up our five-year-old son from school.
tā 他 zài 在 lù shàng 路上 hěn 很 zì háo 自豪 dì 地 bèi 背 le 了 yī 一 shǒu 首 táng shī 唐诗 《 chūn wàng 春望 》 。
He proudly recited a Tang dynasty poem called "Spring View" on the way home.
zhè 这 shǒu 首 shī 诗 shì 是 dù fǔ 杜甫 xiě 写 de 的 ， yǐ jīng 已经 yǒu 有 yī 一 qiān 千 duō nián 多年 lì shǐ 历史 le 了 。
This poem was written by Du Fu and is over a thousand years old.
suī rán 虽然 shī 诗 lǐ 里 shuō 说 de 的 shì 是 zhàn zhēng 战争 hé 和 sī xiāng 思乡 ， bú shì 不是 hěn 很 qīng sōng 轻松 de 的 huà tí 话题 ， dàn 但 hái zi men 孩子们 bèi 背 shī 诗 bù 不 zhǐ shì 只是 wèi le 为了 nèi róng 内容 ， gèng shì 更是 wèi le 为了 gǎn shòu 感受 shī 诗 de 的 jié zòu 节奏 、 yā yùn 押韵 hé 和 wén huà 文化 de 的 měi 美 。
Although the poem talks about war and homesickness, which are not very light topics, children memorize poems not just for the content but also to feel the rhythm, rhyme, and beauty of the culture.
qí shí 其实 ， cóng xiǎo 从小 wǒ men 我们 jiù 就 kāi shǐ 开始 xué xí 学习 zì jǐ 自己 de 的 wén huà 文化 。
In fact, we start learning our own culture from a young age.
zhè 这 bú shì 不是 tōng guò 通过 guī zé 规则 ， ér shì 而是 tōng guò 通过 shēng yīn 声音 、 biǎo dá 表达 、 qíng gǎn 情感 hé 和 xíng dòng 行动 màn màn 慢慢 xué huì 学会 de 的 。

Every child is born into an environment with its own habits and ideas, and that is culture.

Even if we learn other countries' languages and customs, our own culture still influences us inside.

Culture affects how we think, how we act, and how we communicate with others.
zhè xiē 这些 xí guàn 习惯 cóng xiǎo 从小 jiù 就 kāi shǐ 开始 xíng chéng 形成 ， hěn 很 nán 难 wán quán 完全 gǎi biàn 改变 。
These habits begin forming from childhood and are hard to completely change.
