The Chinese proficiency test HSK 3.0 has been officially released and will soon begin its global pilot phase.
The Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education stated that the pilot exam will be held on January 31, 2026, with test centers located in Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania, allowing many Chinese learners worldwide to participate.
Starting from December 19, candidates can register online through the 'Chinese Exam Service Network'.
This exam offers two formats: paper-based and computer-based tests, with specific arrangements depending on each test center.
Registration for the paper-based test ends on January 7, 2026, while registration for the computer-based test is open until January 15.
The pilot exam covers HSK levels 1 through 6.
It is important to note that candidates registering for HSK levels 3 to 6 must also register for the corresponding speaking test; they cannot take only the written test.
This is very important for those preparing for the exam.
HSK 3.0 was launched this November, adjusting the original 6 levels to 9 levels to more clearly reflect learners' Chinese proficiency.
The new exam content emphasizes real communication and includes more topics related to contemporary Chinese society.
For those who want to study, work in China, or use Chinese overseas, HSK 3.0 is not just an exam but also an important proof of Chinese language ability.
With the start of the pilot, Chinese learners worldwide will also face new learning goals and directions.
