The Japanese government said that on May 30, a ship from the Japan Coast Guard rescued an injured crew member from the Chinese research vessel 'Kexue' in the southern waters of Okinawa.
At noon that day, the 'Kexue' requested help from the Japan Coast Guard, reporting that a crew member had suffered a serious hand injury while working.
The Japan Coast Guard quickly dispatched a vessel to carry out the rescue.
The injured Chinese crew member was safely transferred to a Japanese ambulance and taken to the hospital.
Doctors said the man was not in life-threatening condition.
The Japanese embassy also shared photos and videos of the rescue online.
Recently, Chinese research vessels have frequently operated in the East China Sea, which has also drawn Japan's attention.
