Sponge Cities: A New Approach to Flood Prevention in Southeast Asia

In March 2025, heavy rain fell in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, flooding many areas and forcing many people to leave their homes.

A sponge city is designed to absorb and store rainwater like a sponge, then slowly release it.
zhè yàng这样kě yǐ可以jiǎn shǎo减少hóng shuǐ洪水 ，hái还néng能lì yòng利用yǔ shuǐ雨水 。
This can reduce flooding and also make use of rainwater.
