Zhao Weidong, Deputy Minister of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, recently published an article in the "Study Times," stating that China should "take the lead" in the development of artificial intelligence, especially by training AI large models with socialist core values.
Zhao Weidong said that now the internet spreads information very quickly and there is a huge amount of information; some content pursues "traffic" which can affect the social atmosphere.
Therefore, China needs to establish its own "mainstream corpus" and use healthier, more reliable local content to train AI, so that AI can reflect values that Chinese society considers important when answering questions and generating content.
Zhao Weidong believes that foreign culture spreads quickly, and some young people are influenced, preferring foreign culture and undervaluing local culture.
He stated that China should launch more attractive local cultural products and use new technologies to build a "firewall" to reduce harmful information and protect cultural security.
