Why Are People Afraid of Socialism?
wǒ我zài在měi guó美国yí gè一个hěn很dà大de的gōng huì工会jiāo shū教书 ，fā xiàn发现hěn很duō多gōng rén工人tīng dào听到 “shè huì zhǔ yì社会主义 ”zhè ge这个cí词huì会gǎn dào感到bù shū fú不舒服 。

Actually, socialism is not communism.
gòng chǎn zhǔ yì共产主义yǒu shí有时huì会ràng让rén人xiǎng dào想到méi yǒu没有zì yóu自由 ，dàn但shè huì zhǔ yì社会主义shì是xī wàng希望dà jiā大家dōu都néng能yǒu有hǎo好de的shēng huó生活 。
Communism sometimes makes people think of a lack of freedom, but socialism hopes that everyone can have a good life.

For example, everyone can have good food, a safe home, affordable doctors, children can attend good schools, and everyone has fair jobs and a clean environment.

Many countries have already achieved these things, such as Nordic countries with universal healthcare and strong unions, Canada and Ireland with universal healthcare, Germany where workers have good protections, and Brazil and Bolivia helping many poor people.
qí shí其实 ，shè huì zhǔ yì社会主义jiù shì就是ràng让dà jiā大家shēng huó生活gèng更hǎo好 ，bú shì不是ràng让rén人shī qù失去zì yóu自由 ，ér shì而是ràng让dà jiā大家yǒu有gèng更duō多de的zì yóu自由 。
In fact, socialism is about making life better for everyone, not about taking away freedom, but about giving everyone more freedom.
wǒ men我们bù不xū yào需要hài pà害怕 ，zhǐ yào只要dà jiā大家tuán jié团结qǐ lái起来 ，jiù就néng能ràng让shēng huó生活biàn dé变得gèng更měi hǎo美好 。
We don't need to be afraid; as long as we unite, we can make life better.
