Japanese singer Ayumi Hamasaki was scheduled to hold a concert in Shanghai on November 29, but it was suddenly announced cancelled the day before the show.

This news surprised many fans who had already bought tickets and were looking forward to it.

Ayumi Hamasaki said on social media that her team spent five days building the stage with over 200 staff members from both China and Japan, but on the eve of the performance they were notified to dismantle the stage and cancel the show.

She said that facing 14,000 fans, she 'cannot put into words how she feels now' and apologized to everyone.

This sudden cancellation attracted much attention because of the recent tense relations between China and Japan.

Some media noticed that the day before, she sent blessings to the people of Hong Kong on social media and adjusted the stage design for the Shanghai concert by removing red costumes and flame effects.
