Power, Greed, and Empathy
yǒu xiē 有些 rén 人 bìng 并 bù 不 xiǎng yào 想要 quán lì 权力 ， dàn 但 tā men 他们 bèi pò 被迫 chéng wéi 成为 lǐng dǎo zhě 领导者 ， fǎn ér 反而 néng 能 zuò 做 dé 得 hěn 很 hǎo 好 。
Some people do not want power, but they are forced to become leaders and end up doing very well.
shè huì 社会 shàng 上 yǒu xiē 有些 wèn tí 问题 ， bǐ rú 比如 bào lì 暴力 hé 和 bù 不 gōng píng 公平 ， yǒu shí 有时 bú shì 不是 yīn wèi 因为 rén 人 běn lái 本来 jiù 就 huài 坏 ， yě 也 bú shì 不是 yīn wèi 因为 yǒu xiē 有些 rén 人 tiān shēng 天生 yǒu 有 bìng 病 ， ér shì 而是 yīn wèi 因为 yǒu xiē 有些 rén 人 yòng 用 cuò wù 错误 de 的 fāng shì 方式 shǐ yòng 使用 quán lì 权力 。
Some social problems, like violence and injustice, are sometimes not because people are inherently bad, nor because some people are naturally sick, but because some people use power in the wrong way.
yǒu xiē 有些 rén 人 hěn 很 tān lán 贪婪 ， tā men 他们 zǒng shì 总是 xiǎng yào 想要 gèng 更 duō 多 ， bú shì 不是 yīn wèi 因为 xū yào 需要 ， ér shì 而是 yīn wèi 因为 jué de 觉得 “ zhè 这 shì 是 wǒ 我 de 的 ” 。
Some people are very greedy; they always want more, not because they need it, but because they feel "this is mine."
zhè zhǒng 这种 tān lán 贪婪 bú huì 不会 ràng 让 rén 人 mǎn zú 满足 ， zhǐ 只 huì 会 ràng 让 rén 人 yì zhí 一直 xiǎng yào 想要 gèng 更 duō 多 。
This kind of greed does not satisfy people; it only makes them want more and more.
hái yǒu 还有 yī xiē 一些 rén 人 hěn 很 jí duān 极端 ， zhǐ 只 xiāng xìn 相信 zì jǐ 自己 de 的 xiǎng fǎ 想法 ， bù 不 guān xīn 关心 bié rén 别人 。
There are also some people who are extreme, only believing in their own ideas and not caring about others.
zhè 这 liǎng 两 zhǒng 种 rén 人 rú guǒ 如果 yǒu 有 le 了 quán lì 权力 ， shè huì 社会 jiù 就 huì 会 biàn dé 变得 bù 不 ān dìng 安定 。
If these two types of people gain power, society will become unstable.
qí shí 其实 ， cōng míng 聪明 bìng 并 bù 不 děng yú 等于 shàn liáng 善良 ， yǒu xiē 有些 rén 人 yòng 用 cōng míng 聪明 lái 来 dé dào 得到 gèng 更 duō 多 de 的 dōng xī 东西 ， ér 而 bú shì 不是 bāng zhù 帮助 bié rén 别人 。
In fact, being smart does not equal being kind; some people use their intelligence to get more things rather than to help others.
lì shǐ 历史 shàng 上 yě 也 yǒu 有 hǎo 好 de 的 lǐng dǎo zhě 领导者 ， bǐ rú 比如 màn dé lā 曼德拉 、 mò kè ěr 默克尔 hé 和 ā dé ēn 阿德恩 ， tā men 他们 yòng 用 tóng lǐ xīn 同理心 hé 和 zhì huì 智慧 ràng 让 shè huì 社会 gèng 更 hé píng 和平 。
There have been good leaders in history, like Mandela, Merkel, and Ardern, who used empathy and wisdom to make society more peaceful.
wǒ men 我们 yào 要 míng bái 明白 ， tān lán 贪婪 bú shì 不是 xiǎng yào 想要 gèng 更 duō 多 ， ér shì 而是 zhǐ 只 wèi 为 zì jǐ 自己 。
We need to understand that greed is not about wanting more, but about only caring for oneself.
shè huì 社会 hé píng 和平 duì 对 měi gè rén 每个人 dōu 都 hěn 很 zhòng yào 重要 ， bù 不 zhǐ shì 只是 dào dé 道德 wèn tí 问题 ， yě 也 shì 是 dà jiā 大家 yì qǐ 一起 shēng huó 生活 xià qù 下去 de 的 fāng fǎ 方法 。
Social peace is important for everyone; it is not just a moral issue but also a way for everyone to live together.
